The Geelong Regional Libraries' purpose is to provide a thriving public library service that boosts our communities’ health, prosperity, connectedness and belonging. This is particularly pertinent as we contribute to the recovery of the region during and post pandemic.

We are a consistently recognised leader in Victoria’s public library sector and provide services across the five local government areas that are part of the G21 region. This includes 19 libraries and three mobile library services.

Have you ever seen a story time and thought ‘I could do that!’ or looked at a group of teenagers and thought ‘I speak their language!’. We are looking for a full-time Children’s and Youth Services Librarian position, based at Leopold.
As a member of the Geelong Regional Library Corporation, you will be enthusiastic and flexible, confident and agile with new technologies and your proactive and cooperative approach will help us provide welcoming, inclusive and safe library spaces.

Band 7, $96,566 - $107,258 plus 10.5% superannuation

This role offers the fantastic opportunity to lead the team at GRLC. Managerial experience along with a deep understanding of the role of public libraries, an ability to engage, lead and coach customer-centred teams, the capacity to build relationships with diverse community members and a relevant tertiary qualification are essential.

The key areas of responsibility include:

  • Lead, develop and coach individuals and capable teams to enable innovative and contemporary ways of working, thinking and delivering services
  • Ensure the consistency of provision and delivery of high quality, community focused library and information services and programs that respond to community needs and expectations 
  • Lead a continuous improvement culture that is dynamic, resilient and collaborative
  • Manage GRLC’s Occupational Health and Safety objectives and Child Safe Standards ensuring community libraries remain safe spaces for staff and community
  • Build and nurture connections – locally, within the region and across the industry
  • Foster positive relationships that create and maintain collaboration with key community groups, Local and State Governments and other key stakeholders

Are you passionate about supporting community access to opportunities, networks and resources so that they can build connections that will help them achieve their goals and build resilience?

Geelong Regional Library Corporation are looking for a Coordinator, Community Development, who lives the values above and can support us to develop and implement initiatives to build frontline workforce capacity to understand and respond to the needs of our diverse communities. They will also support the teams through targetted capability building, provision of debriefing and support and appropriate training to deliver on strategic goals and objectives outlined within the Library Plan.

As the successful candidate, you will have significant experience building relationships, networks and collaborations within the community, and experience in community development or a community services organisation, with specialist knowledge in either homelessness, mental health and/or drug and alcohol responses.

An engaging communicator, you will help us embed an understanding of community development principles of empowerment, inclusion and diversity and collaboration and participation.
